Tail Lights & Holders for Trucks and Commercial Vehicles – spare parts for safe vehicle lighting
Tail lights and their holders are safety-critical components on every truck and commercial vehicle: they make the vehicle visible to other road users, signal braking manoeuvres and indicate turning – around the clock and in all weather. Defective or damaged tail lights are immediate road safety defects and lead to vehicle immobilisation during inspections. Particularly on vehicles with a tail gate where the vehicle rear is at elevated risk through loading and unloading operations, tail lights and holders are subject to increased risk of damage. SULEJ Ladebordwand supplies tested tail lights and holders as spare parts for trucks and commercial vehicles – for permanently compliant vehicle lighting in transport operations.
Tail lights for trucks: functions, types and standards
A complete tail light combination on a truck incorporates several individual functions, often integrated into a single housing: tail light (red, constant), brake light (red, activated when pedal is pressed), direction indicator (amber, flasher), rear fog light (red, high intensity) and reversing light (white). Heavy commercial vehicles and trailers additionally require outline lamps and side marker lights. All light functions must be homologated and type-approved in accordance with ECE regulations (ECE R4, R7, R10). Modern LED tail lights offer significantly longer service life, lower power consumption and faster switching times compared to conventional bulbs – a safety advantage through earlier brake light signalling.
Light holders and mounting: protection against damage and corrosion
Fixed holders: Classic mounting for tail lights fixed permanently to the body. Made from galvanised steel or ABS plastic; provide precise positioning and mechanical stability. Standard for articulated lorries, box trucks and curtainsider bodies.
Swivel and fold-away holders: Allow the light to be folded away during loading and unloading over the vehicle side, or when docking at loading ramps. Protect tail lights from mechanical damage – especially important on vehicles with a tail gate.
Spring-loaded holders: Yield under slight pressure and return to the starting position. Ideal for trailers and swap bodies that are frequently coupled and uncoupled and may come into contact with ramps or dock shelters.
