Tail lights and holders for trucks and commercial vehicles – rear lighting for reliable signal effect
Tail lights and holders form the visible safety system at the rear of a truck. They mark the position of the vehicle in traffic, transmit brake and indicator signals and, with reversing light and rear fog light, ensure additional visibility under poor conditions. In this category you will find tail lights, combined multi-chamber lights, incandescent and LED versions, as well as matching holders, protective frames and fastening elements for common commercial vehicle models. At SULEJ Ladebordwand, decades of experience in maintenance and repair of trucks and bodies flow directly into the selection of these components – for clear signal effect, robust holders and rapid, compliant restoration of the rear lighting.
Function and requirements at the truck rear
The rear lighting on the truck fulfils several safety-relevant tasks simultaneously. Tail, brake, indicator and reversing lights signal the position, deceleration and direction of travel to following road users. Rear fog lights increase visibility in dense fog; number plate lights ensure legibility of the official plate. Holders and protective frames position the lights at the rear or underrun protection so that they remain mechanically protected even under loading and shunting influences. Correctly mounted, fully functional rear lighting is a mandatory part of a roadworthy commercial vehicle and is checked during every periodic inspection.
Designs, lighting technology and holder variants
Tail lights on trucks are predominantly designed as multi-chamber combination lights. They combine several functions – tail, brake, indicator, reverse, rear fog – in one housing and thus reduce wiring effort and installation space. Classic incandescent versions are available, as well as modern LED variants with longer service life, lower power consumption and shorter reaction time.
The holders are manufactured from steel, aluminium or reinforced plastic. Common are rigid consoles, foldable holders for lifting and lowering movements at the rear, and protective frames that shield the lights from impacts during loading and unloading. On vehicles with tail lift, holders are positioned so that the lighting remains visible to following traffic even with the platform extended. Warning lights on the tail lift complement the rear lighting system.
