PALFINGER PALGATE Electrics – Spare Parts for Heavy-Duty Control

Electric spare parts for PALFINGER PALGATE tail lifts cover the complete 24V control architecture of the heavy-duty line, engineered for loads up to 4000 kg. Unlike 12V systems of smaller truck classes, this design uses larger-sized main relays, more robustly protected high-current lines and correspondingly dimensioned control boxes. Electric Components in the PALGATE Heavy-Duty System

At the core of the PALGATE electrical system are 24V-rated main relays and solenoid switches that safely handle the inrush current of the powerful pump motor. High-current fuses and more robustly protected lines route the load from the on-board network to the hydraulic power pack. Typical wear patterns include burnt contacts, sluggish switching behaviour and occasional voltage drops under full load – indicators that appear noticeably earlier in heavy-duty service than in comparable 12V systems of lighter truck classes.

On the operating side, hand-held cable switches, radio remote controls and foot switches work together with limit switches and position sensors of the lift mechanism. These components provide the central control with precise feedback on platform position, end stops and operator commands. Wiring harnesses, connectors and cable looms link control box, sensors and switching components – in the harsh truck environment they are exposed to mechanical strain, moisture and vibration and are therefore regularly addressed during scheduled maintenance and repair work.

Note on the 24V Design of the Heavy-Duty Control

While many light-truck tail lifts operate on 12V onboard networks, the PALGATE heavy-duty line is consistently designed for 24V. This higher voltage reduces current draw for the same motor power and allows leaner wiring despite high pump output. When selecting spare parts, the exact distinction between 12V and 24V variants is essential, as relays, fuses and switch components are not interchangeable across voltage levels.
