Rear steps on the underrun protection – step for safe access
Rear steps are the firmly mounted steps on the underrun protection that allow safe access to the cargo area or the lowered tail lift. They are designed as a welded steel or aluminium construction and provided with a slip-resistant tread. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find rear steps in different widths, heights and fastening variants, matched to common underrun protection designs on the market – as an ergonomic access element at the rear of the commercial vehicle.
Construction and tread – grating, tear plate or expanded metal
The tread of a rear step is often designed as tear plate, grating or expanded metal – each with a slip-resistant structure. Galvanised or powder-coated steel is the most common choice of material, lightweight aluminium versions are widespread in distribution traffic. The brackets are bolted to the chassis via the underrun protection frame. Reflective strips or warning markings increase visibility at dusk and night. The step width depends on the desired access surface and the available space behind the rear cross member.
