Suction and oil filters – cleanliness in the hydraulic circuit of the power pack
Suction and oil filters retain chips, abrasion and suspended particles from the hydraulic fluid and protect pump, valves and seals from wear-promoting contamination. They sit either as a suction strainer inside the tank or as a return-line filter directly in front of the return port. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find filter elements in different filtration grades and connection patterns, matched to the installed component – a small but central component for a long service life of the hydraulic unit.
Filter element grade, suction filter and return filter compared
Suction filters operate with coarser filtration grades and protect the pump from larger contaminants without excessively throttling the suction line. Return filters, on the other hand, are designed with finer media and capture abrasion particles from the circuit before the oil flows back into the tank. Common filtration grades range from around 10 to 100 micrometres depending on position. Filter elements are made of metal mesh, pleated glass-fibre fleece or synthetic filter media – each designed for the pressure differential and flow rate of the installed pump.
