MEGA fuse – main fuse by Littelfuse with diffusion-pill technology for high vehicle electrical currents
The MEGA fuse by Littelfuse is the largest bolt-down design within the Littelfuse protection family and is used as a central main fuse in the high-current range of trucks and commercial vehicles. It typically sits directly at the battery terminal or at the main distribution point and protects the battery, alternator and entire main busbar of the vehicle electrical system. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find the MEGA fuse as a central protection module for applications where very high continuous and inrush currents must be reliably secured.
Large-format design of the MEGA series and electrical layout
The MEGA fuse follows the same construction principle as smaller bolt-down fuses of the family but is built on a significantly larger scale. It has two bolt eyelets with a larger hole spacing and stronger contact plates that reflect the higher current range. The PPA thermoplastic housing accommodates a fuse element built with diffusion-pill technology, whose Slo-Blo® time-delayed tripping is specifically tailored to protecting the battery and alternator. The series is rated for 32 V and 58 V electrical system voltages and covers a current range up to approx. 500 A. The breaking capacity is 2000 A and the permitted operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +125 °C.
