Edge end caps – terminations and tips for the platform edge

Edge end caps are the closing end pieces or pointed shaped parts that cleanly terminate the edge profile at the corners and platform ends. They protect the cut edges of the profiles, prevent ingress of moisture and reduce the risk of injury at the corners. Shapes and connection – bolted, welded or plugged on

Depending on the profile design, edge end caps are bolted, welded or plugged on. Common versions are milled aluminium parts, welded steel sheet tips or cast end caps made of die-cast aluminium. The geometry follows the profile shape and engages in the profile with a plug-in section. A sealing surface or a narrow adhesive joint closes the transition to the platform. Powder-coated and anodised surfaces protect against corrosion and colour change in outdoor use.

What to consider during selection and replacement

Important factors are the exact profile contour, the wall thickness of the cap and the shape of the plug-in section. Before installation, the connection point on the profile is cleaned, freed from any old adhesive residues if necessary and checked for deformation. Damaged caps with cracks or torn-out screw holes can no longer be repaired – replacement is the only sensible solution here. Welds should be lightly reworked after installation and sealed with corrosion protection.
