Foot switch housings – mechanical protection for the step control
Foot switch housings form the outer shell of the step control on a tail lift and carry the step surface, the operating electronics module and the entire wiring. They are usually mounted on the side of the platform or on the frame and must withstand loads that go well beyond pure weather exposure: stepping with work shoes, impacts from roll containers and spray water during cleaning. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find foot switch housings in different designs and mounting variants, matched to the respective installed component – for robust protection in daily truck operation.
Material, IP protection class and mechanical robustness
Housings are produced from powder-coated sheet steel, die-cast aluminium or impact-resistant polyamide. Steel versions offer high load capacity at particularly frequented step positions, aluminium combines low weight with corrosion resistance, and polyamide housings are light, impact-resistant and electrically insulating. Protection classes typically lie in the high IP range, so that jet water and fine dust reliably stay outside. Different outer contours with chamfers and water drain holes are precisely matched to the typical mounting positions on platform and frame.
