A characteristic feature of the Mahle range is its compact cylindrical design with a mounting flange to the hydraulic pump and a brush holder on the front face. Depending on the version, permanent-magnet stators or classic series-wound windings are used – both designed for high starting current and short duty cycles in 12 volt or 24 volt vehicle electrical systems. The commutator transfers current to the rotating armature, while bearings are axially bolted. This construction allows a short overall length with high short-term power output, as typical for the lifting cycle in mobile hydraulic applications.
