The MAXI fuse by Littelfuse is a large-format blade-style plug-in fuse used in truck and commercial vehicle electrical systems for heavily loaded main current circuits. With a size sitting between the compact MIDI bolt-down variant and the large MEGA main fuse, it fills an important gap in the Littelfuse protection family. Design and electrical layout of the MAXI series

A characteristic feature of the MAXI fuse is its flat plug-in design with two blade contacts which – unlike the bolt-down members of the family – is not screwed but plugged into a matching MAXI holder. The PPA thermoplastic housing allows an optical condition check thanks to a visibly protected fuse element. The series is rated for 32 V electrical system voltage and a typical current range of up to approx. 80–100 A. It reaches a breaking capacity of 2000 A and is approved for operating temperatures from -40 °C to +125 °C.

Use in the main current circuit and selection criteria

The MAXI fuse is typically used in the main current path between battery and central consumers – for example as a pre-fuse for hydraulic power packs, inverters or high-performance auxiliary units. Selection criteria are nominal current (up to approx. 80–100 A), electrical system voltage (32 V) and the plug-in dimensions of the existing MAXI holder. Visual inspection for corrosion on the blade surfaces and a firm seat in the holder are important service points, since loose or oxidised plug contacts can lead to heat build-up and false tripping.
