Housings for control boxes protect the internal electronics of the tail lift against spray water, dust, road salt and mechanical impact. They consist of upper and lower shell, are equipped with a circumferential seal and are certified via a defined IP protection class. Materials, IP protection classes and closure solutions
Common designs are polyamide housings, glass fibre reinforced plastic and die-cast aluminium – polyamide is light and impact-resistant, aluminium on the other hand is particularly thermally conductive and mechanically resilient. Protection classes typically range from IP54 to IP67, depending on installation position and cleaning environment. Screw covers with square Allen key, bayonet closure or hinged cover with safety latch are common. Inside, mounting rails or mounting plates secure the control electronics.
