CF8 fuse – high-current battery terminal fuse by Littelfuse with fast-acting tripping
The CF8 fuse by Littelfuse is a high-current fuse that bolts directly to battery terminals and clearly differs from the flat and bolt-down designs of the family. It is used wherever a protective element with a defined fast-acting tripping characteristic is needed right at the energy store. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find the CF8 fuse as a protection solution for electrical paths in trucks and commercial vehicles where the vehicle or body builder concept specifies exactly this design.
Design of the CF8 and connection to the battery terminal
A characteristic feature of the CF8 fuse is its direct attachment to the battery terminal via end-side contact bores. The fuse element is fully encapsulated inside the PPA thermoplastic housing and particularly well protected against mechanical influences. The series is rated for 58 V electrical system voltage and a typical current range of up to approx. 100 A. Unlike the time-delayed bolt-down family members, the CF8 is fast-acting, so brief over-current events are interrupted quickly. Due to the direct contact with the battery terminal, insulating nuts must be used during installation to maintain the defined protective behaviour. The breaking capacity is 2000 A and the permitted operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +125 °C.
