Levers are the hand-operated control elements that move the roll stop flaps from the locked position to release. They transfer the operating force to the rotary shaft and are located at the front edge of the platform or to the side of the flap system. Grip shape and force transfer – how the lever works on the flap

Operating levers are usually designed as bent or forged steel parts and provided with a plastic or rubber sleeve at the grip end. Via a square holder, a split pin or a clamp connection, the lever sits on the shaft of the roll stop and transmits the rotary movement directly to the flap mechanism. The lever length is dimensioned so that the flaps can be released without tools and without the operator reaching across the platform edge. Galvanised and powder-coated versions protect against corrosion from road salt and cleaning agents.

What to consider during replacement and installation

When replacing a lever, the correct lever length, the holder geometry on the shaft and the condition of the locking elements such as split pins or clamp pins are decisive. Noticeable play in the holder area indicates a follow-up replacement of shaft or bushings. The grip itself should be firm and free of cracks so that the operating force is precisely transferred to the flap. Before installation, cleaning the shaft and applying a light film of grease in the holder area is worthwhile.
