Geometry and mounting – how filler pieces sit at the platform edge

A filler piece is installed between two adjacent flaps or between a flap and the end section of the platform. It is designed as a compact profile and fixed via bolted joints, spot welds or lateral clamp seats. The shape follows the height of the safety flaps so that the upper edge forms a continuous line. Common versions are made of powder-coated steel or aluminium, sometimes with additional galvanising at cut edges. The exact width depends on the flap grid of the respective platform construction, ensuring the gap is reliably bridged.

What to consider during selection and replacement

Decisive factors are the exact width of the gap, the height relative to the upper edge of the flap and the number and position of the boreholes. Before replacement, a visual inspection for deformation, cracks at welds and damaged coating is worthwhile. During removal, attention must be paid to seized screws and corroded threads – a new filler piece only fits precisely if the contact surface on the platform is free of rust and distortion.
