Piston rods for closing cylinders – slim design for the end-position function
Piston rods for closing cylinders transfer the closing pressure from the cylinder tube directly to the linkage at the rear portal and keep the platform safely in its end position while driving. They usually work with a shorter stroke and smaller diameter than their counterparts in the lift cylinder. Compact design and permanent pressure – the rod layout
Closing cylinders work with shorter strokes but often under constant closing pressure while driving. The corresponding piston rod is therefore slimmer but at least as high-quality in surface treatment as a lift cylinder rod. Hard-chromed quenched and tempered steel with a layer thickness of around 20 to 30 micrometres is common. Here too the running surfaces are induction-hardened, ground and polished. In particularly corrosion-critical environments, rods made of stainless steel are also used, manufactured analogously to the lift cylinder rod.
