Equalising cylinders – platform synchronisation on the tail lift
Equalising cylinders ensure that the platform of a tail lift remains horizontal even under uneven load. They connect both lifting sides hydraulically and balance volume differences between the main cylinders. At SULEJ Ladebordwand you will find equalising cylinders in different stroke classes and connection patterns, matched to the installed component and available in various sizes and connection variants – a compact element for a level loading surface during operation.
Synchronisation of the platform – the technical principle
In the classical layout two lift cylinders work on both sides of the lifting frame. If the platform is loaded on one side, the hydraulic oil flows between the cylinders through the equalising cylinder in such a way that the pressure conditions are balanced. The component works as a double-acting unit with a defined piston area and communicates with the lift cylinders through cross-connected lines. Hardened steel housings, precisely honed internal surfaces and pressed piston rings ensure that even after many load cycles no creeping tilt occurs.
